For Bronson’s birthday, I wanted to do something pretty special. At the time, he really liked Bruno Mars and I thought we could go see him in concert. When I googled Bruno’s tour schedule, I saw he was playing in Paris the week after Bronson’s birthday. Well that just wouldn’t do…so I thought why not just go to Paris. Bronson had been collecting Eiffel Towers for some unknown reason. So that’s what I did…I booked us a trip to Paris. And what could be more touristy than to also reserve a window-seat birthday dinner on the second level of the Tower at Le Jules Verne?
Of course a trip wouldn’t be complete without Bronson doing something ridiculous. And this is by far one of my favorite memories from our trip. On the morning of our departure, we walked down to the Metro station to catch a train to the airport. I had my rolling carry-on and Bronson had the rolling checked bag with his carry-on strapped to it…and his backpack. I made it easily thru the turnstile (as I read the recommendations to push luggage thru first). I proceeded to the Metro map to plan our route and as I turned to tell Bronson which stops and stations would get us there, I realized he wasn’t beside me. That’s when I saw the funniest thing…Bronson had managed to get himself stuck in the turnstile!! At the Metro station, once you turn the arm of the turnstile it opens a sliding-door gate and you walk through. Well, Bronson had the checked bag behind the turnstile, himself between the turnstile and the doors, and I was on the other side of the doors dying of laughter. (To add insult to injury, two ladies passed thru the turnstiles on either side of him and snickered at his predicament!) He threw his backpack and carry-on bag to me (still dying of laughter), then he somehow managed to lift the checked lugged over the turnstile and then over doors and put it on my side. And in some sort of Houdini move, he slid through the doors! Thank goodness Bronson is a slender fella or he would have really been in a world of hurt! But he’s a good sport and instead of being upset or irritated, he laughed and said, “That’s gonna end up on facebook isn’t it?”
